Robert was a consultant pathologist in Cornwall for 33 years and is an honorary senior clinical lecturer/associate professor at Exeter University College of Medicine and Health. He has been a small group facilitator, academic tutor and pastoral tutor and ran an assortment of special study units for medical students, including the antibiotic properties of lichens, the sense of smell and learning Latin.
He started to develop an international portfolio about 10 years ago, having been involved in a project investigating malaria deaths in Mozambique, training future pathologists in Zambia and currently a project linking CMH with medical schools, clinics and hospitals in Ethiopia.
His first degree was in Classics and this gave him an interest in exploring how the arts and humanities can inform the study of medicine.
