Dr Caroline Dimond

The Director of Public Health in Torbay (Retired)

My name is Caroline and I am currently the Director of Public Health in Torbay and work for Torbay Council.
I trained as a GP in inner city London and worked in international health for 7 years before taking up a career in Public Health. I worked in Brazil, Afghanistan, Malawi and Cambodia for both voluntary sector organisations and more latterly with WHO in the areas of Health System strengthening and Health economics.
I am passionate about the prioritisation of prevention and early intervention and in ensuring integrated provision. I believe we need to build resilience in our communities as well as in individuals and that joined up work is necessary across all sectors; public, private and voluntary in order to create a sustainable future. I strongly believe that system leadership and being a connected leader are critical in negotiating the future at both national and international level.
I aim in the future to re-connect with my international experience and am delighted with the focus on systems and leadership and shared learning currently being promoted within many Global Health Partnerships.
