I am a UK trained Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist working in Exeter, with a special interest in high-risk obstetrics, ambulatory gynaecology and abortion care. Over the past 15 years, I have spent several years working in Africa from South Africa to Ethiopia.
Between 2015-17, I worked in a rural hospital in Uganda running a teaching programme, a technology research project and working as a fistula surgeon. I have higher degrees in Medical Education and Healthcare leadership and a Masters in Public Health.
My connection to global health projects has been maintained through fistula surgery camps and being part of the faculty for the LSHTM East Africa Diploma in Tropical Medicine. As a trainee, I set up the RCOG trainee global health group that continues to provide support to the projects and advocacy arms of the RCOG global health work today.
