Marine Building
Providing some of the best research and testing facilities in the country, the world-class marine facility is a dedicated space for marine and engineering students as well as commercial clients.
Situated on the western edge of our city-centre campus , it is also home to the University’s Marine Institute , which boasts the broadest research portfolio in Europe, covering almost every major sea-related discipline including oceanography, hydrography, marine biology and coastal ecology, as well as engineering, shipping, and professional development for the navigation industry.

Our researchers and scientists are working across the globe on issues relevant to the health of our seas – from acidification and its consequences for sea-life, to coastal erosion, flood risk and the impact of renewable energy technologies upon the environment. This remarkable facility will provide a world-class platform to support and extend the work we do.

The University is committed to discouraging the use of private cars, however, it continues to permit very limited car parking on campus for staff and visitors who hold a blue badge.
Only students with mobility impairment will normally be permitted to park on the Plymouth campus.
The University operates a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) enforcement system to assist in maintaining an orderly and safe parking facility on its campus. The enforcement system is managed and operated in partnership with First parking LLP and the security department at the University.
Alternative parking can be found in Drake Circus shopping mall and the Regent Street car park nearby. Charges apply.
