Save event
We invite you to discover a new movement practice through visual, verbal, and sonic inspiration. We welcome you to join the world of Ballet for Non-Dancers where the world is our stage. We always aim to look and feel free rather than beautiful. In this workshop, we will warm up Jane Fonda style, then dance through our rolodex of references, with a finale that makes you feel like you were at Studio 54.
Come dance with us. Get confused with us. Come sweat with us.
Sincerely,
Your rebel ballerinas in the everyday world
Artist Biography
Mya Cavner and Edith Liben are a South-London based artist duo, recontextualising who can call themselves a dancer. We believe if you have a body you are a dancer. Mya is a Chicago raised and London based curator curator exploring spatial narratives at the intersections of Black social histories, archives, and design. Edith is a visual artist and anthropologist whose practice is rooted in documenting identity and emotion. Together, they use subculture as a tool in workshops, publications and exhibitions to create new community spaces for movement, play and experimentation.
Join New Contemporaries 2024 artists Mya Cavner & Edith Liben as they present a performative workshop on ballet for non-dancers.
