The House
is host to a variety of acclaimed choreographers and multi-award winning shows open to the public, all year round. This state-of-the-art performing arts centre is located on the University of Plymouth campus, in the city's central quarter, adjacent to the The Box and The Levinsky Gallery. As part of the arts and culture programme at the University of Plymouth, we are committed to delivering a diverse range of contemporary performance, featuring renowned companies such as Akash Odedra Company, Vincent Dance Theatre, and National Youth Dance Company. Past showcases have included works devised by esteemed choreographers Didy Veldman, Stuart Waters, and Hagit Yakira, ensuring an enriching and immersive experience for audiences.
We programme a diverse and exciting range of contemporary performance work which speaks to our audiences today. Working strategically with artists, companies and researchers we aim to create innovative ways to share and disseminate performance, develop its ideas and grow its impact.

Our venue
The House
The House stands as a testament to the University of Plymouth's dedication to the performing arts, with £7 million committed to its construction as a purpose-built theatre on campus. This award-winning facility features a fully accessible 200-seater auditorium, a studio theatre, and rehearsal spaces, providing world-class facilities for both performers and audiences alike. Located in the city-center campus adjacent to the Roland Levinsky Building, The House serves as a vital training ground for aspiring artists while offering outstanding opportunities for public engagement. It boasts the two largest studio performance spaces among the university's five studios, all equipped with sprung dance floors and a range of technical facilities for audio playback and stage lighting.
