Since 2008 the History and Politics/International Relations programmes at the University of Plymouth have hosted a debate on US election night, discussing the key issues and candidates in the election.
In 2024, America must decide between re-electing Donald Trump for a second term, after his defeat in 2020, or choosing Kamala Harris, Joe Biden’s vice-president.
The race is even closer than in 2020 when Biden barely carried the Electoral College, and hinges on five or six crucial swing states.
