Organic September
We are proud to offer a range of organic food and drink items across campus that are certified organic, and in some cases, also Fairtrade. These include Owens Coffee, Matthew Algie Coffee and Karma Drinks. Additionally, we create delicious bagels and baked goods using Heritage flour from Fresh Flour, a local mill located just 23 miles from campus.
Zero Waste Week: 2–6 September
On campus, we actively combat food waste by selling 'magic bags' containing surplus food at a discounted price through the Too Good To Go app. Any remaining food waste and scraps are sent to the anaerobic digester at Langage Farm, where they are converted into electricity for the farm and returned to the National Grid.
We also reduce waste by offering reusable water bottles and cups for hot drinks in our cafes. Plus, every time you use a reusable cup, you save 20p on your hot drink!
Fairtrade Fortnight: 9–22 September
Following our recent achievement of a two-star Fairtrade University award, we are excited to share our commitment to Fairtrade food and drink, promoting fair wages globally. During this fortnight, we'll be introducing new menu items, including a Fairtrade banana and chocolate muffin at The Container
National Chocolate Milkshake Day: Thursday 12 September
Celebrate with a delicious chocolate milkshake on campus! Enjoy a freshly made milkshake at the Library Cafe or grab a bottled Delamere milkshake to go.
National Guacamole Day: Monday 16 September
Looking for some guacamole-themed brunch and lunch options on campus? Check out our:
• Chicken, bacon and avocado sandwich at Loafers Deli
• Sun-dried tomatoes, vegan feta, guacamole and chilli flakes bagel at The Container
Feel Good Do Good Fair (Freshers' Week event): Monday 16 September
University students are invited to join us at the Feel Good Do Good Fair to learn more about our sustainable food and drink practices on campus, including our Fairtrade accreditation. Plus, you’ll have a chance to win a fantastic hamper filled with Fairtrade goodies, donated by the Co-Op.
Cafe Quest: Thursday 19 September (11:00–14:00 or until supplies last)
One of the tastiest days of the year is back! The Cafe Quest returns with delicious free food and drink samples around our cafes. Pick up a treasure map from one of our city centre cafes during the week leading up to the event and get ready to explore! Find and enjoy international hot food from RLB Cafe, Burts Crisps, Fairtrade Karma Drinks, Fairtrade coffee from Drake’s Kitchen, and much more!

British Food Fortnight: 20 September – 6 October
Stay tuned for exciting events showcasing the best of South West food and drink available on campus. Did you know that 75% of our food and drink is sourced from Devon and Cornwall?
National Pepperoni Day: Friday 20 September
Craving pepperoni? Here’s where to find pepperoni-based sandwiches and pizzas on campus.
