As part of Peninsula Pathways to the Healthcare Professions we offer further support and guidance to potential students considering a career in medicine or dentistry from backgrounds which are underrepresented in higher education through various engagement in activities and events.
We offer support via workshops and talks to potential students in areas such as study skills, reflective writing, ethics and debating, UCAT workshops, MMI mock interviews and taster days. All pathways workshops are held on the main University of Plymouth campus.
“I am part of the Peninsula Pathways programme, a widening participation scheme that has given me the opportunity to further my learning in medicine. I particularly enjoyed working together in small groups, utilising biological, psychological and social sciences to identify a patient's possible diagnosis. I also really valued the practical elements of the workshops, especially learning how to intubate and manage the airway in an emergency situation”
