This 20 credit module will enhance your existing knowledge and skills in the holistic care of children and young people with mental health issues and will help you to develop a deeper understanding and critical awareness of the contemporary issues faced in caring for them and their families.
Topics covered by this module include definitions of mental health, common mental health issues and contributing factors, multi-agency provision and inclusive care, relevant social policy and legislation, therapeutic interventions, concepts of containment, reciprocity and behaviour management and working with families to promote mental health.
The module is co-taught by experts from clinical practice with the module lead.
This module can be studied at either degree or masters level, with both groups of students being taught together with different learning outcomes and assessment – please see course details.
