Derek Pretty has been a Council Member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council since 2016 and is currently Vice-Chair of the Council and Chair of its Audit, Investment and Accommodation Committees.
Derek served for 12 years until 2011 as Chief Operating Officer and Registrar/Secretary of the University of Bristol. Prior to that he was Finance Director of several retail groups (Kingfisher (formerly Woolworth Holdings), Kwik Save, Budgens and Waterstones).
Since 2011 Derek has served as non-executive chairman of Southwest One Limited, a public-private shared services partnership in Somerset. He was also Vice-Chair of Governors at the University of St Mark and St John and a Governor of Wells Cathedral School.
Derek is married with three sons and two grandsons.
