Celebrating 20 years of creativity
September 2024 marks our 20th anniversary as one of the South West’s major providers of arts and culture. We look forward to expanding our programme into ever-more impactful spaces, producing and hosting over 100 events each year for everyone’s learning and enjoyment. We’re dedicated to showcasing our academics and their research to the wider world, while also hosting major thinkers and makers from outside the University. We have a terrific line-up for 2024-2025, and look forward to welcoming you to campus to experience and take part in our ongoing arts and cultural conversation.

Winter 2025: Home and Away
International and interdisciplinary investigations drive so much of what we do at the University, and this is on full display in our Winter season (January - March 2025). Artists from around the world blur the boundaries between painting and sculpture in our new exhibition

while we explore the concept of ‘home’ as a defining stylistic concept in the debut performance by the
Musica Viva Sinfonia
. Distinguished composer Emily Howard continues the conversation about music in our Creative Talks series, while
Celluloid Psychology
presents more cult classics from Andrei Rublev (1966) to The Blair Witch Project (1999), brought closer to home with introductions from University colleagues and creatives.

Exhibitions
The Levinsky Gallery presents lucent, an exhibition of international artworks curated by David Quinn, with an associated programme of tours, talks and films.
Music
Musica Viva showcases the ‘music of home’ through Britten, Bach and Bartók, plus this season's performances from the University Choral Society and Orchestra, including relaxed performances for all ages to enjoy.
Film
An eclectic programme of screenings and talks including our popular Celluloid Psychology series, a trio of Screen Queens presented in collaboration with the Women's Network and films selected to accompany this season's exhibition, lucent.
Talks
Includes our ‘Creative Talks’ series, featuring artists who work in a variety of disciplines, sharing their work, processes, influences, and their own experiences of professional practice, plus Cultural Talks and Research Seminars.
Performance
Contemporary performances live on stage at The House, our performing arts centre in the heart of campus.

The Archives: 2004-2024
We’ve produced and hosted over 2000 public-facing events over the past 20 years. Looking back at our most recent spring-summer 2024 season, saw a celebration of creativity designed to inspire, challenge and entertain. Highlights included University of Plymouth academics work and creative collaborations in Resonating Bodies, Green Makers | Materials | Objects and SOAK Live Art. We hosted the major UK touring exhibition, Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize in The Levinsky Gallery and in The House, Rendez-Vous Dance’s The Monocle and Richard Chappell Dance’s Hot House. The acclaimed Musica Viva concert series marked the 100th anniversary of Rhapsody in Blue with the formation of The London Gershwin.
