About Yu
Yu completed his PhD at the University of Sheffield. After serving as a research fellow and lecturer at the University of Sussex, Yu was appointed as a lecturer at the University of Plymouth, teaching embedded systems.
He leads or plays a key role in five research projects, including NetworkPlus and the Marie Curie Scholars Program, totalling £1.1 million under his leadership. Collaborating with several industry partners, Yu has produced key publications and patents in indoor wireless performance, transparent antenna design and wireless power transfer systems. His work has opened doors for further academic collaborations.
Yu has published/submitted 11 papers in top journals and conferences as an early-career researcher. One of his papers was featured in IEEE’s "What’s Hot in Antennas and Propagation" and was recognized as the Top Hot Paper in 2023. He serves as a guest editor for Electronics and a reviewer for IEEE TAP and Hindawi journals.
He enthusiastically welcomes research students to join his group. His research interests include 5G/6G, antennas, metasurfaces and wireless power transfer.
