About Shilpa
Professor Shilpa Chokshi PhD FRSB, Professor of Experimental Hepatology and Head of Environmental Hepatology at the University of Plymouth, leads pioneering translational research programme in chronic liver disease, with a focus on environmental drivers of liver injury. Her programme explores the impact of plastic pollution, particularly micro- and nanoplastics, and environmental toxins on liver health. Through multidisciplinary collaborations across environmental science, toxicology, and public health, her team investigates pollution-driven mechanisms of liver inflammation, fibrosis, and cancer. She is committed to raising awareness, shaping public health policy, and translating scientific insights into meaningful, patient-centred interventions.
