About Paul

Lecturer in Assessment and Clinical Education - I am the module lead for the Student Selected Component, a module designed to develop transferable knowledge, skills and behaviours in our students over all five years of their medical degree. The diverse content includes, academic writing, critical thinking, education, social science, teaming skills, reflection skills and project management.

Teaching

As module lead for the Student Selected Component I have overall  responsibility for the design and delivery of all of the teaching and student experience across the five years of the medical degree.
 
My main focus is in developing teamworking skills, student co-creation and innovative assessment.
 
I also teach extensively on our widening participation Foundation programme.
 
With a background in psychology I also contribute to the specialist teaching of this subject.
 
More recently I am leading the development of the Core Competencies module for our new and evolving Medical Doctor Degree Apprenticeship (MDDA) programme.
 
I hold a number of other education related roles within the medical school, including:
