Senior Technician - Composites

School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics (Faculty of Science and Engineering)

About
I am the Senior Technician for Composites Engineering at the University of Plymouth. I am also Faculty Advisor for University of Plymouth Racing and Manufacturing Working Group Lead for the School of Engineering Computing and Mathematics.
I initially trained as a sculptor art art school and then had a successful career teaching Art, Design & Technology and Engineering. Additional responsibilities during this time included Faculty Leader, Assistant Headteacher and Head of Department. I bring my background in teaching with me to ensure that I offer a fantastic student experience in the Composites Engineering Lab, as well as the highest standards of professionalism when working with academics, researchers and colleagues from industry.
My interest in composite materials developed as a result of working on various STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics) projects in schools, as well as designing and making composite parts for motorsport applications.
The Composites Engineering Lab is a fantastic facility and we welcome all enquiries about the space and resources that we offer. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me, or our principal contact for Composites Professor John Summerscales.
