Mrs Justine Tansley

Since graduating as a Podiatrist from the University of Plymouth in 1999, Justine has pursued an NHS career which includes extensive clinical experience in diabetic foot and wound management with the Podiatry team in Torbay and South Devon. She has an extended scope of practice which includes advanced practice in lower limb/leg ulcer management and interventions which she achieved during her time as Team Leader of Torbay and South Devon Lower Limb Therapy Service (specialist leg ulcer service).

Justine is currently undertaking an NIHR Pre-Doctoral Clinical Academic Research Fellowship. Her area of research interest is Diabetic foot ulcer management, Lower limb oedema and lower limb complications and integrated care.

Research interests

Having already completed a SW Clinical Research Network Fellowship, then an NIHR/HEE Integrated Clinical Academic Internship, Justine is currently undertaking an NIHR Pre-Doctoral Clinical Academic Research Fellowship. Her area of research interest is Diabetic foot ulcer management, Lower limb oedema and lower limb complications and integrated care.

Her current clinical focus is improving the care and experiences of people with diabetic foot ulceration in combination with lower limb oedema and it’s complications, which require multiple or complex interventions. Her current project is a scoping review exploring “Off-loading and compression therapy interventions and strategies for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers complicated by the effects of lower limb oedema”.
