About Ignacio

PhD Student
Research title: "Lightweight floating offshore wind turbine platforms with viscous-induced stability compensation"

The PhD is focused on Floating Offshore Wind Turbines (FOWT), with an emphasis on the platform hydrodynamic response. The project aim, it is to evaluate and optimise different passive damping structures for a semi-submersible platform for FOWT, to improve the dynamic response in extreme environmental conditions. The analysis will be carried out with numerical tools including potential flow and CFD codes. Additionally, the final designs will be validated with scaled physical testing
