About Gunay

Research Title: Hybrid Structures for Coastal Defence and Wave Energy
Gunay Gazaloglu is a Ph.D. student in the COAST engineering research group at the University of Plymouth. He holds a BS degree in Civil Engineering and an MS degree in Coastal and Ocean Engineering from METU-Türkiye.
Previously, he worked as a project assistant at the METU Coastal and Ocean Engineering Laboratory. His research interests centre on physical and numerical studies of various coastal structures.
Currently, his research focuses on experimental and numerical approaches to investigate the design and performance of hybrid coastal structures that provide both coastal protection and clean energy. He is studying hybrid shoreline devices that combine the features of oscillating water column (OWC) with wave overtopping (OT) technologies to optimize their efficiency for wave energy conversion (WEC).
