About Duhan
I am a Turkish architect and academic with a diverse career spanning design, management, research, and teaching. After transitioning from hands-on design to academia, my focus has been on integrating theoretical knowledge with practical applications. My academic interests have expanded to include digital tools and innovative teaching methods, enhancing design thinking and problem-solving. Currently, I am involved in both academic and professional practice, often consulting on research and industry projects. I spent eight years teaching undergraduate architecture students with a focus on technology in design, mostly in design studios, skill-based courses, and cognitive studies.
Teaching
I previously taught in the Undergraduate Architectural Design program at Yaşar University, Turkey, with a focus on creative thinking, problem-solving, design studios, serious gaming, and technology-based courses. I worked closely with digital fabrication, virtual reality, and workshop labs. In my previous roles, I developed course syllabi, held managerial positions, and guided students in professional architectural design competitions.
Courses I developed include Introduction to Computational Design, Advanced Computational Design, Introduction to 3D Modelling, Advanced 3D Modelling, Cognition in Design, and Virtual Environments in Architecture. I also taught Basic Design, Integral Architectural Design Studios (2nd and 3rd year), Advanced Computational Design, Project Management and Construction, and Building Technologies.
