About Amr
Amr works as a clinical lecturer in dental education at University of Plymouth, where he teaches both bachelor of dental surgery (BDS) and dental therapy & hygiene (BDTH) programs. Originally graduating with a bachelor's degree in dental surgery (BDS) from October University for Modern Sciences and Arts, Cairo, in 2010, Amr furthered his education by completing a Master's degree in paediatric dentistry in 2017. This led to his registration as a specialist in paediatric dentistry with the Egyptian Dental Syndicate. In 2022, Amr earned his PhD in dental education from the University of Portsmouth, UK. His doctoral research focused on "The role of social media in dental education," culminating in the development of the "Elraggal model" for using social media in dental education. Concurrently, between 2019 and 2022, Amr contributed to teaching dental care professional students at the University of Portsmouth in a part-time capacity. Amr is deeply enthusiastic about learning approaches that are social, collaborative, active, problem-based, and student-centred. Amr has had the opportunity to present his research at the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) three times (2020-2023) and at the Association of Dental Education in Europe (ADEE) on two occasions (2021-2022). Amr brings a wealth of practical experience, having worked as a general dental practitioner and a specialist in paediatric dentistry in various Egyptian hospitals.
