The Entrepreneurial Futures Net Zero Internship and Leadership Programme is a funded internship opportunity placing current students or recent graduates of the University of Plymouth within Cornwall or Isles of Scilly enterprises to work on a specific low-carbon challenge or opportunity.

Accelerating Net Zero Action in Cornwall

The internship programme is providing invaluable support for Cornwall-based businesses while offering practical work experience and leadership development for current students and recent graduates.
Cornwall-based organisations are benefitting from support on a range of net-zero projects, including:
  • carbon footprinting
  • B Corp applications
  • communications and market research
  • scope 3 emissions data
  • assessing sustainability initiative impact

Enabling Future-Fit Change-Makers

The innovative leadership component comprises change leadership and personal development workshops for the interns to enable them to become future-fit as changemakers, leaders and role models of a low-carbon society.
These workshops will focus on developing the skills and tools, combined with the inspiration, confidence and ability, to facilitate compassionate and proactive change to tackle the climate challenge.

This project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund

Entrepreneurial Futures is a £5.6 m Shared Prosperity Funded investment in RD&I activity for businesses based in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly.
The programme is led by University of Exeter and partners with University of Plymouth, Falmouth University and Duchy College. It is a multi-faceted programme focusing on the major research priorities for the region which include the following sectoral support:
  • clean energy
  • geo-resources
  • robotics/automation
  • agri-food
  • net zero and biodiversity
  • immersive technologies
  • business circularity

UK Shared Prosperity Fund

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK Government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025.
The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK by investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
