Whatever your activity goals, there are a whole host of different ways to stay active and look after your mental and physical wellbeing whilst at Plymouth.
On campus, you'll find our sports centre, as well as a wide range of sports and activity delivered through the Students' Union.
Around the city there are a number of alternative sports facilities. We are also a few minutes walk from the incredible natural environment of the Hoe where you can run, swim, paddleboard and sail.
 

Sports centre

The sports centre provides a range of activities to assist you in achieving your fitness goals. From the 50 station gym, squash courts and multi-purpose sports hall to the dance studio and sports injuries clinic.
Situated in the heart of the city-centre campus , it’s quite easy to fit in a work out session or fitness class around your timetable.
 

Sports clubs

Sports clubs offer much more than just playing sport. UPSU sports clubs are committed to delivering an excellent student experience by providing you with a wide range of opportunities to get involved in sport and activity. Explore new and exciting places, develop personal skills, celebrate sporting achievements, build a community and forge friendships for life.
With almost 50 different sports clubs, you can get involved in a huge variety of activities including rowing, kickboxing, stand up paddleboarding, clay pigeon shooting, golf, Jui Jitsu, dodgeball and archery.
There is also the chance of representing the University of Plymouth on a national and regional level.
British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) offers you the opportunity to compete for the University on a Wednesday afternoon in a range of sports with the hope of promotion and winning medals.
 

Social sport

We are keen to inspire students to explore and experience new sports and activities. Social sport offers you the chance to try something new without any commitment. Give it a Go offers a weekly timetable of activities. All equipment is provided, and the cost of a session is heavily subsidised.
All students at Plymouth can also access free swimming sessions throughout the year at Plymouth Life Centre.
If you'd like to meet new people, have fun and play sport at a level that is not too serious, Intramural sport is the perfect choice. It offers a variety of leagues and tournaments that foster a friendly atmosphere of healthy competition. Whether you're part of a sports club or simply a group of friends, anyone can participate and join in on the fun.

What else can be found in the city?

Within the city of Plymouth, you can also access some great facilities. From Tinside Lido on the Hoe - consistently voted in the top 10 of Europe’s outdoor pools - to the Plymouth Life Centre.
Situated a 15-20 minute walk from campus, Plymouth Life Centre is one of the country's leading sporting venues. It offers a fantastic range of sports and activities, including an Olympic-sized 50-metre swimming pool, a diving pool, a 12-court sports hall, an eight-rink indoor bowls hall and a climbing wall.
You can also exercise for free in the beautiful natural surroundings. Discover Plymouth and surrounding areas by bike , run around the seafront, try some open-water swimming, there is something for everyone.
