Dental students in the SDLE
The state-of-the-art Simulated Dental Learning Environment (SDLE) offers you the chance to learn and experience all aspects of providing dental care in a safe, controlled environment. The University of Plymouth has a total of 93 phantom heads, across our Truro, Exeter and Plymouth campuses.
Our largest SDLE based in Portland Square on our city-centre campus, hosts a purpose-built facility across 3 rooms. Here students learn how to deliver dental and dental hygiene therapy treatment in a closely supervised simulated clinical environment. Each pod in is an identical replica of a dental surgery with 68 'phantom heads' on which you can practice techniques. All our undergraduate and postgraduate students will have opportunities to use the SDLE and clinical sites.
