Mark Wray graduated with a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Plymouth during the last recession but still managed to secure a position with one of the top five engineering consultancies, even before he received his exam results.
Mark was offered a graduate training place on the strength of a presentation he gave during his course to a panel which included the Regional Director of that company. He says: “Thanks to the opportunity of giving the presentation I got my career off to a great start at a time when few were hiring.”
Mark is now helping the Regional Development Agency (RDA) lead the development of a sustainable economy in the South West.
"As Professional Services Manager for the RDA I have particular responsibility for sustainable construction, promoting low carbon development and ensuring the South West is proactively engaged in climate change mitigation and adaption.
The photo shows one of our exemplar buildings where I was the client/project manager on behalf of the Agency. The building won several awards including the National Building Control Award for sustainability and the SW Green Energy Award."
