Lee See Voon won the Institution of Civil Engineers Prize 2007 for outstanding undergraduate work on her BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering degree.
"I really enjoyed my time studying at Plymouth University. The University has some very supportive and experienced lecturers. Thanks to my degree I am now working for an international consultancy firm as a Graduate Engineer.
One of my first projects involved the steelwork design for one of the buildings on the Penryn college development in Cornwall. I am currently working on a five storey residential development in Newquay. Due to the irregular shape of the building, the design and analysis are done by ETABS and SAFE: ETABS for the concrete frame design, SAFE for the floor slab design (software package for the structural analysis and design of buildings and structures).
I have enjoyed the process of learning: there are plenty of opportunities here and I have found the office an excellent environment for learning and development. With the excellent Hyder graduate training and development programme, I hope to gain my chartership within the next five years."
