The Junior Academy provides instrumental music lessons and theory tuition for 12–16 year olds from the most experienced teachers in the South West of England. Members of the Junior Academy achieving the requisite standards will be en route to an unconditional offer for the BA (Hons) Music degree at the University of Plymouth where the music entry requirements are Grade 8 instrumental and Grade 5 music theory. Accomplished members who are close to achieving the required grades may also be considered for an unconditional offer.
Junior Academy members and their parents/guardians are invited to all arts and culture programme performances, workshops and masterclasses. There will be additional opportunities for members to actively participate in composition and performance events and societies. The Junior Academy is a pathway toward University life, preparing members for their personal journey into musical study at higher education.
Membership is free and we welcome young musicians within the South West region (12 to 16 years) who have aspirations to study music at degree level. If you are interested in becoming a member please ask a parent/guardian or teacher to email Todd Antill todd.antill@plymouth.ac.uk for further information/to arrange a meeting.
