Entry requirements
GCSE
English and one of Mathemtics or Science at grade 4 / C or equivalent.
A-Level/AS-Level
Normal minimum entry requirements are BBC at A-level excluding General Studies.
BTEC National Diploma/QCF Extended Diploma
All applications to be referred to the Admissions Tutor.
Welsh Baccalaureate
Can be accepted as add-on points, in addition to 2 A-levels. Refer to Admissions Tutor.
Scottish Qualifications Authority
48 Points. All applications to be referred to the Admissions Tutor.
Irish Leaving Certificate
Normal minimum entry requirements are 3334.
International Baccalaureate
28 overall. English and Mathematics accepted within. Higher Level = 4 Standard Level = 5
If overseas and not studying English within IB – MUST have IELTS: 6.0 overall with 5.5 in all other elements.

Academic Requirements

  • A level three qualification (or be able to demonstrate suitable subject expertise and specialist knowledge) in the subject area you wish to teach.
  • GCSE: level 2 equivalent in both English and Maths.
  • Good information and communications technology (ICT) skills.

Non-academic Requirements

  • An interview is a pre-requisite for entry onto this programme. The first stage interview is conducted by a member of the teaching team. If successful there will be a second interview with a subject specialist tutor from the placement college. This interview is to ascertain your level of subject knowledge in the areas that you might reasonably be expected to deliver whilst on your teaching placement.   • You’ll be required to complete a satisfactory enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) Enhanced Disclosure , register with the Independent Safeguarding Authority and complete a criminal convictions self-declaration form. Find all of the important documentation you'll need when applying for this programme
  • You must be deemed fit to teach.
