Our Green Communities team is supporting Generous Earth to run composting in Central Park and we need your help!
Generous Earth is a composting project set up to create a network of local community composters in Plymouth that can turn our food waste into healthy living compost. The project's aim is to showcase and encourage composting on different scales so everyone can do it! Generous Earth is underpinned by the Permaculture principles of Earth Care, People Care and Fair Shares. The project addresses key issues through innovative nature-based solutions, especially around supporting and enhancing growing spaces, enabling better residential and community food growing, upskilling local people, empowering them to improve soils and grow and eat healthy local food, building a sense of agency and strengthening Plymouth’s food security. Generous Earth aligns with and contributes to Food Plymouth’s work around healthy food for all and food for the planet.
After the fantastic success of their Crowdfunder, Generous Earth is now surging forward with the first of their three community composting sites in Plymouth – Zoo Field in Central Park.
Join us for our volunteer day, for however long you can. All welcome! The event is led by Tess Wilmot, supported by the Green Communities team.
At the event on 16 January, we'll be planting some peas to grow as micro greens to take home, checking the temperatures of the Ridan, Scottie Hot box and the 'windrow' alongside checking out the garlic planted a few weeks ago.
