The University, in conjunction with the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP), is holding a mathematics taster day for schools comprising a number of hands-on interactive workshops on a variety of mathematical topics.
During the day students will have the opportunity to attend a variety of workshops which could include cryptography, geometry, dimensional analysis and computer programming, and many more.
The taster day aims to:
- have fun working on unusual maths problems and learning about new areas of mathematics
- offer students with a taste of mathematics beyond GCSE
- encourage students to take Mathematics and Further Mathematics A levels, or Core Maths
- provide information about maths courses available post-16.
The aim of the day is to provide Year 10 students with a taste of mathematics beyond GCSE and at university with the hope that it will encourage them to consider mathematics post 16. The workshop is designed to be accessible and will be challenging as well as enjoyable!
Schools are invited to view the AMSP webpage for further details or contact terry.butler@amsp.org.uk with any queries.
