Following on from the Soil Health for Productivity and Climate Resilience workshop held in Abuja, Nigeria, on 12 December 2024 with key stakeholders from Nigeria and Ghana, this dissemination webinar will present key findings on challenges and barriers to the adoption of Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices in Nigeria and Ghana.
The session includes a panel discussion on opportunities for transformative change through technology and practices for resilient, healthy and nutrient-rich soils.
This webinar will take place via Zoom and all are welcome.

University visit to NWRI in Nigeria

Partnership aims to advance climate-smart agriculture research

The University has forged a new strategic partnership with the National Water Resources Institute (NWRI) in Nigeria.
The collaboration will see the parties working together on a range of research and knowledge exchange initiatives linked to climate-smart agriculture.
In particular, they will explore how the development of science and technology can support sustainable land and water management in Africa, also focusing on challenges in Nigeria and Ghana with wider relevance to other nations.

Soil Health

At Plymouth, we have a demonstrable track record of impactful soil health and land use research, much of which has been carried out in situ – on working farms or in collaboration with community and industry partners.
We have worked with academic partners to develop baseline environmental data against which land management and soil carbon practices can be measured. Internationally, we are building upon community-driven soil carbon research, as well as our long track record of using environmental diagnostics and radioactive tracers, to monitor soil erosion in Latin America and in East Africa.
