Organised by Plymouth Tree People, the Plymouth Urban Tree Festival is a nine day celebration of our city centre trees. The festival comprises a whole host of events at different locations including guided tree walks for all ages and abilities, charcoal making, a photography competition, tree talks, a film event, poetry reading and art shows. There's something for everyone and nearly all the events are free.
This afternoon's event is an uplifting group singing experience with singer-songwriter Kelsey Michael, serenading the beautiful trees of Drake's Place Gardens just below the reservoir on North Hill.
Come and sing folk and nature songs including short rounds, traditional Celtic songs, English folksong and contemporary folk. Sing to the trees, the creatures who live in them and celebrate the incredible ways they communicate with each other. We can shelter under the colonnade in the park if there is rain.
This event is open to all and no singing experience is needed, just a willingness to have a go and have fun! Songs will be learnt by ear. You are also welcome to come and just listen.
This event is timed to finish before the film screening of Heart of an Oak at Plymouth Art Cinema at 18:30.
