The National Trust's new series of evening talks at Wembury Marine Centre kicks off with an insightful session on coastal adaptation. The engaging talk will be given by Myah Horsford, Coastal Process Scientist from South West Coastal Monitoring (SWCM).
Discover the fascinating ways our coastline is being monitored and preserved, and learn how you can play a part in protecting it through the CoastSnap citizen science project. This is your chance to connect with local experts, deepen your understanding of coastal changes, and get hands-on with conservation efforts.
Whether you’re a coastal enthusiast, a curious mind or just looking for a meaningful evening out, this event promises to be informative, inspiring and fun. Don’t miss it! The talk is suitable for those aged 12+.
Please arrive ten minutes before the start time. National Trust car parking charges apply to non-members at Wembury Beach car park.

South West Coastal Monitoring (SWCM) is one of seven regional Programmes which collectively monitor the entire coast of England and Wales.

We have been collecting, collating, and reporting on a variety of data since 2006, building one of the most comprehensive coastal datasets in the world. We are funded by Defra, administered by the Environment Agency. Our Programme monitors over 2,450 km of coast between Portland Bill in Dorset and Beachley Point on the border with Wales. All of the high-quality data that we collect is freely available from the National Coastal Monitoring website.
SWCM is kindly hosted by the University of Plymouth, where we work closely with the COAST Engineering Research Group and the Coastal Process Research Group.
