We are delighted to announce the National and International Perspectives of Dementia Conference on Friday 11 April 2025 at the Mayflower Stand, Home Park Stadium, Plymouth. This innovative and unique event will bring together inspirational speakers from around the globe to present their creative projects and research.
Registration is open from 08:30 for a 09:00 start. Please note, in-person attendance is fully booked though you can still join the event online via Zoom through the registration link below.
Once again, the conference has attracted interest from across the globe. With keynote speakers talking about 12 innovative initiatives, there will be plenty of opportunities to network and share insights. The day promises to be both informative and engaging.
Chaired by Angela Rippon CBE and David Fitzgerald, the aim of the conference is to showcase the work of dementia awareness, dementia care research and the future of AI in the world of dementia support regionally, nationally, and internationally. We also wish to share thoughts and ideas which have the potential to open new ways of developing fresh perspectives and groundbreaking solutions that help overcome the challenges faced by people living with dementia and carers every day in their lives.
We have in-person keynote speakers from China, Japan, Europe, Gibraltar, Ukraine and the UK.

There is widespread recognition at the highest level of all governments around the world about the present and future impacts of dementia. The search for ways to enhance the quality of life for those affected is a constant and complex one.
These programmes have the potential to open new ways of working and developing innovative ways to support people with dementia and their carers.
The 2025 conference is organised and hosted by the University of Plymouth.
This year's highlights include:
  • The visit of Dr ZENG Wen from the Health Bureau of the Government of Macao Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China (Developing dementia friendly community in Macao SAR China)
  • The visit of President TANG Tao, Dean FANG Haiyun and Professor HUANG Huiting from the Guangzhou Nanfang University China (Rural dementia in China)
  • Masahiko Yamamoto (Rural dementia in Japan)
  • Irina Shevchenko, Founder and Director of "Nezabutni" charitable foundation, Kyiv
  • Olivier Constant, Flemish Alzheimer's Association, Belgium
  • Karen Truman, Dementia lead from Gibraltar, and speakers from Wales and England
  • Bringing the conference into the world of AI, Plymouth Science Park’s ‘Health Technology & Innovation Hub’ will demonstrate how they are able to exploit technology to bring the modern, digital world back into the hands of clinicians, researchers, communities and students’ discernible models that are no longer generic, but instead, patient specific. Running parallel with this, a team from the University will be demonstrating how the exciting world of AI can support people living with dementia and their families.

In-person attendance apart from allocated speakers is fully booked. You can book a place on the waiting list if in-person spaces become available, though due to popularity we recommend that you sign up for online attendance via Zoom. For those attending in person, lunch and refreshments will be provided.
