The University of Plymouth LGBT+ Staff Network would like to welcome you to join us in marking National Coming Out Day 2024 with a free showing of the documentary film Paris is Burning (1990).
Directed by Jennie Livingston, Paris is Burning was filmed in the mid-to-late 1980’s and chronicles the drag ball culture of New York City and the African-American, Latino, gay and transgender communities involved in it. It provided a platform for many drag and ballroom performers to tell their stories and explain their love for an art form that empowers them.
When: 11 October 2024
Time: 18:30
Location: Jill Craigie Cinema, Roland Levinsky Building
This is a free event open to all staff and students, but registration is necessary by emailing LGBTnetwork@plymouth.ac.uk.
