Exploring research and healthcare subjects at the University of Plymouth
SciTech Showcase 2018 - 11

Our Health Showcase public session took place on 15 October 2019. From social work to psychology and medicine to midwifery, interactive displays demonstrated how staff, students, researchers, partners and professionals are collaborating to make an impact on everyday lives.

Visitors were invited to navigate through our range of exhibitors from the fields of Medicine, Dentistry, Biomedical Science, Nursing, Midwifery, Psychology, Social Work and Allied Health Professions (Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Paramedic Practitioner, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, and Sport Therapy and Rehabilitation).

This event was open to anyone who wished to find out more about the health professions and the related research conducted across the South West. It was suitable for adults of all ages and families with children over five years of age.

Meet our researchers and discover how research is making a difference

University of Plymouth Peninsula Medical School (PMS) has made the top two in the UK for medical student experience as an organisation offering primary medical qualifications – with 98% of students ‘satisfied overall’ with the quality of the course.

The University of Plymouth’s Peninsula Dental School has come joint top of a key UK survey that asks students to rate their institution based on teaching quality.

100% of students on the BDS (Hons) Bachelor of Dental Surgery course said that they were ‘satisfied overall with the quality of the course’ in the 2018 National Student Survey (NSS) – putting it joint first out of 16 dental schools in the UK.

Committed to widening participation

We're committed to widening participation and to prove it we've launched a medical degree with a foundation year, helping people from disadvantaged backgrounds become doctors. The programme is designed as a route into medicine for students who might not otherwise access higher education.
