The South West Global Health Collaborative (GHC) is pleased to announce the next event in its Lunchtime Lecture series.
These hybrid lectures are open to all who are interested, and offer a space in which to network and discuss all matters relating to Global Health.
The lecture is entitled 'Building Skills and Empowering Communities: The Oyoko Optical Technician Training Experience' and will be given by
Dr Daniela Oehring
. The lecture will reflect on the establishment of the Optical Technician Training Institute in Oyoko, Ghana, over two decades ago. It will discuss the initial challenges and collaborations with local and international partners to address the shortage of trained optical technicians. The session will highlight the impact of the training programme, emphasising its role in enhancing local healthcare and the key lessons learned that have guided subsequent global health initiatives. This retrospective will offer valuable lessons on sustainable educational projects in global health.
