Proportion underpins many aspects of the GCSE curriculum and is a key concept in mathematics.
It reaches across many topics and understanding proportion is vital to providing secure mathematical knowledge and demonstrating high achievement.
This one-day course considers different aspects of proportion and strategies for embedding understanding within the curriculum with the objective of increasing the number of students that choose to study maths post-16. Delegates will be provided with course materials electronically after attendance on the day.
Course aims
  • To share ideas and strategies to enable your students to tackle questions involving proportion successfully.
  • To model ways to support your students in developing their reasoning, problem solving, and deeper understanding skills.
  • To provide support in developing your professional practice and that of departmental colleagues.
  • The course is aimed at teachers who wish to improve their teaching of GCSE maths and/or the skills of their students.
