Dr James Buckley , Lecturer in Ecology at the University of Plymouth will be discussing the importance of urban green spaces in this talk organised by Plymouth Humanists.
James's talk will look at reviewing different approaches to creating more space for nature in our towns and cities, using examples of urban green infrastructure in Plymouth and considering their benefits for both people and nature. He’s going to look at examples from green roofs, green walls and grassland management (to cut or not to cut) using ongoing research at the University of Plymouth. He will also discuss the importance of designing these green spaces to maximise benefits for biodiversity whilst also ensuring the support of local communities.
This event is free and all are welcome. A voluntary contribution (cash or card) to help cover the speaker's costs would be appreciated.
