Join the University of Plymouth Environmental Society for a screening of Hungry for Change, a film examining our reliance on the UK's intensive, hyper-globalised, fossil fuel-driven food system – which is itself becoming more and more vulnerable to climate shocks.
The film is presented by forager Josh Quick, who asks whether there are ways of producing more of our food locally and in more imaginative, but less damaging, ways. It takes a fascinating and inspiring look at a whole range of stories about hope, resilience and people doing some extraordinary things in Cornwall to counter the impacts of our broken food system.
The film is 30 minutes and the screening will be followed by a short questionnaire to help Cornwall Climate Care assess how the documentary influences audience behaviours and attitudes towards climate change.
Doors open at 18:30. All are welcome to attend as having a diverse audience will provide valuable insights for our research and help us better understand the impact of the documentary! Free pasties will be provided.

About the film

Today's hyper global, industrialised food system is responsible for a huge part of our carbon emissions. In the UK this is compounded by the fact that we import nearly 50% of all our food .... and then we waste one-third of it.
Hungry for Change is presented by a forager who takes us on a fascinating and inspiring journey to meet people in Cornwall working on ways for us to 'do food better' as the climate changes – from the gleaners picking ‘waste’ crops in our fields to projects growing food in unusual places, and a microbiologist keen to get us all eating low-carbon insects.
