In this talk organised by Plymouth Humanists,
Dr Martin Lavelle
from the University of Plymouth will provide an accessible introduction to particle physics.
He will explain the key concepts, highlight significant historical figures and events from the 20th and 21st centuries, and discuss the achievements of the Large Hadron Collider as well as the future of particle physics research.
Martin is one of Plymouth Humanists' committee members and is in the process of retiring from the University, where he was a researcher in Theoretical Particle Physics, Head of Maths, and a lecturer in the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics. He has spoken at physics institutes across the world.
This event is free and all are welcome. A voluntary contribution (cash or card) to help cover the speaker's costs would be appreciated.
