This 20 credit module, offered at diploma and degree level, will provide you with specialist infection prevention and control knowledge.

At degree level, you will gain comprehensive infection prevention and control knowledge, utilising critical thinking to implement evidence-based practice and manage complex and unpredictable situations relating to infection prevention and control in the healthcare environment.

At diploma level, you will gain specialised knowledge and skills relating to infection prevention and control practice enabling you to enhance your role in your work environment, and ensure a safe environment for your clients and colleagues.

Please note at diploma level this module is called 'HEAB236 - Principles and practice of infection prevention'.

A variety of teaching methods are used in and out of the workplace to ensure that you achieve the module learning outcomes. This module is open to all healthcare professionals.

This module can be studied as a standalone module at both levels or as an optional module towards some of our BSc (Hons) Professional Development pathways at degree level - please contact the Professional Development Unit for further information.
