MSc/PgDip Advanced Critical Care Practitioner careers

On completion of the PgDip Advanced Critical Care Practitioner, you’ll be able to apply for Band 8a roles. You’ll work in stage 1, 2 and 3 intensive care units (ICUs) as an autonomous practitioner who is able to assess, diagnose and manage critically ill patients and prescribe independently. When appropriate, you’ll refer patients for specialist care.

You’ll work as part of a multi-disciplinary critical care team, and can lead teams, and train and supervise junior team members.

The award of PgDip Advanced Critical Care Practitioner enables you to apply for voluntary registration and associate membership of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM).

On completion of the MSc Advanced Critical Care Practitioner, you’ll also have advanced research skills that will enable you to evaluate the effectiveness of critical care delivery, and make innovative recommendations for change in continuing to improve patient care.
