With less than 10 years left, we are firmly in the Decade of Action to work towards meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

How can we ensure the 17 global goals are met and rooted in local action?

With a focus on Goal 13 – Climate Action, join guest speakers and panellists to explore what the goals are, how you can take action on them, what’s happening on the ground and how we can transition into the New Year with awareness, optimism and action.

Guest speakers and panellists include:

  • Tom Birbeck – ARC Marine (CEO and Co-Founder) – ARC Marine are an award winning eco-engineering company, a start-up business founded in Devon and Cornwall, with a global reach who are passionate about protecting and preserving the marine environment with their approach and work particularly aligned with SDG Goal 14 – Life Below Water.

  • Emma Burlow – Lighthouse Sustainability (Founder and Director) – Emma specialises in circular sustainable business models and supporting businesses navigate the sustainability challenges they face, with her work particularly aligning with SDG Goals 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

  • Rosamonde Birch – PhD student at the University of Dundee – experience in Citizenship Education, Learning for Sustainability, and Global Literacy. She is interested in alternatives in education and will be sharing insights from UNESCO’s Learning to Become – Futures of Education initiative which ties in with SDG Goal 4 – Quality Education, but also how we can embed this creative thinking across all the SDGs.

This event is part of the PSEN (Plymouth Social Enterprise Network) City Festival 2021 – Local Action for Global Goals. There are a range of events happening across Plymouth; find out more about the Plymouth Social Enterprise City Festival.

Inspire Ambition: Purposeful Business is part of the System Shift – Low Carbon Devon event series, which facilitates proactive conversation with curious and courageous doers, creative thinkers and leaders at the forefront of change. These events aim to explore what a zero carbon future might look like, the bold and systemic change required and how we can imagine a world where people and planet flourish.

Open to all – business and enterprise leaders and staff, members of the public, researchers, community groups, students and those who are curious and looking for a dose of inspiration to help tackle the climate challenge.
