Guest speakers

Ian Herriott, Designer, Smartscape

Ian became a member of the Scotscape team in 2012 as a living wall maintenance technician, progressing to team management and then onto his current role as Designer. It was in 2015 that the Scotscape group formed the Urban Greening design team with Ian as lead. He designs planting schemes for living walls, interior & exterior, & multiple interior & exterior soft landscaping schemes. In 2019 as part of a knowledge transfer partnership (KTP) Ian worked directly for the University of Greenwich for one year to develop Scotscapes LivingPillar™ technology, which is now being rolled out throughout the UK. Ian’s journey into the industry began with a BSc in Horticulture where he has taken a hands on approach knowledge base and applied nature to design concepts for all manner of urban greening solutions. Biodiversity is at the helm of Ian’s design process as he believes that providing forage and habitat for urban wildlife is key to bringing nature successfully into the built environment.

Bruce Perry, Contracts Manager, Smartscape

Bruce joined the Scotscape Group in 2019 as contracts manager for the Smartscape division responsible for delivering indoor and outdoor urban greening projects around the UK. These projects included living walls in commercial and domestic settings, new innovations by Smartscape such as LivingPillars™ and urban street greening projects. During the pandemic period he moved over to the Smartscape maintenance team where he has taken his wealth of experience in irrigation and project management to support the team in keeping living walls healthy and happy around the UK. Before joining Scotscape Bruce worked in contract management for a large green roof provider. Prior to this Bruce worked overseas for a number of years in the construction and environmental industries. Bruce is passionate about nature and the fusion of nature into the urban landscape. This passion is thoroughly reflected in the excellent standard of his workmanship.
