Lauren England and Julian Leedham will discuss their collaborative project ‘Crafting a Circular Economy’. Drawing from examples of designers, makers and companies, they will highlight some of the opportunities and challenges for incorporating circular economy principles and practices into craft studio management, business models and creative practices. Julian will share his own experience of trying to be sustainable in his making and professional practice.
How to Measure Carbon Footprint: a practical guide for creatives and the cultural sector
To play a meaningful part in the wider change needed to address the climate emergency, the cultural sector needs to navigate carbon efficiency, working with culture’s wider influence, and adapting to a climate changed future. Caro Overy will explore the cultural carbon footprint from the Scottish arts context, some of the key challenges and priorities for the cultural sector when it comes to carbon reduction, and share some activities and ideas to address the environmental impact of artistic work.

Devon Guild of Craftsmen is an acclaimed exhibition space for contemporary craft and design as well as a leading charity for craft education. Located in Bovey Tracey on the edge of Dartmoor, it has a large gallery and shop with inspiring exhibitions and events, encouraging people to support, make and learn about contemporary craft.
