We are delighted to host the launch of the Supergen ORE Hub during Research Festival 2019. The Supergen Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Hub gathers a national consortium led by the University of Plymouth to bring together a network of academic, industrial and policy stakeholders to champion and maintain the UK’s expertise in ORE.

Created by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), the Hub provides research leadership to connect academia, industry, policy and public stakeholders, inspire innovation, and maximise societal value in offshore wind, wave and tidal energy.

It will build a collaborative approach which will bring the added benefits of spreading best practice through the research community, supporting equality and diversity, and ensuring support of early career researchers.

Offshore Renewable Energy has been one of the UK’s hidden success stories of the past two decades. If you’re interested in academic research towards a clean energy future that harnesses the potential of wave, wind and tide, join the Hub’s launch and:

  • Discover how the Supergen ORE Hub is designed to benefit the entire ORE Community.
  • Explore and debate the challenges of cutting-edge research with our panel of speakers. Including experts in floating wind, wave and tidal, future energy networks and whole system approaches.
  • Learn how we're joining up core research to make it accessible across the Offshore Wind and Marine Energy sectors - and beyond.
  •  Enjoy the opportunity to network with the ORE research community, whether you have an academic, industry or policy perspective.

Confirmed speakers at the event include:

  • Una Brosnan – Business & Strategy Development Manager at Atkins, brings her expertise in engineering infrastructure and the commercial outlook for developing floating offshore wind;
  • Hongda Shi – Professor of Ocean Engineering and Dean of College of Engineering, Ocean University of China represents the academic sector as a senior research specialist in Marine Renewables, Coastal Hydrodynamics, Harbour, Channel and Coastal Engineering;
  • Marie Berthelot – Head of Renewables, EDF Energy, will share the essential perspective of commercial energy suppliers and future energy markets;
  • Will Apps – Head of Energy Development at The Crown Estate, brings a unique viewpoint from the business that manages seabed and the rights to develop renewable energy in the waters off England, Wales and Northern Ireland;
  • Jeremy Thake – Head of Engineering at Atlantis Resources will contribute his insight into the development of the MeyGen tidal-stream project.

Who is this event for?
If your work relates to the Wind, Wave and Tidal Offshore Renewable Energy sectors, particularly if you're a professional from industry, policy and academia, then this event will be ideal for you to learn more about the research being carried out into the next generation of ORE technologies, and network with others in the field. Spaces are limited so reserve your free place above.

Supergen ORE Hub and Network

Bringing together for mutual benefit the related research areas of wave, tidal and offshore wind.

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) is creating a new Supergen ORE Hub aimed to bring together for mutual benefit the related research areas of wave, tidal and offshore wind in order to share skills, resources and expertise across the field of ORE.

The Supergen ORE Network is a mail distribution list to keep the Offshore Renewable Energy Community up to date on the latest news and events organised by Supergen ORE Hub. If you would like to be involved, please register to join the Supergen ORE Network.
