A research team at the University of Plymouth is currently undertaking a mixed method exploratory study which examines registrants’ experiences of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) revalidation process to identify how best to engage students in preparation for this professional requirement. The intention is to enhance employability and professional practice by promoting a pedagogy which inspires positive attitudes to lifelong learning and scrutiny by self and others.
The project comprises two phases:
- An online descriptive exploratory survey – this was completed in 2018 and has been published in 'Nurse Education Today'.
- Focus groups to explore issues raised in greater depth.
