The University of Plymouth and the University of Exeter are working together to deliver the INSIGHT South West Peninsula programme – part of the multi-million pound, nationwide NIHR INSIGHT project – to provide fully funded studentships and engagement activities to highlight the range of exciting research and career opportunities available in healthcare, social work and public health professions.
The programme offers 30 studentships per year for places starting in September 2024, 2025 and 2026. Studentships will support fees and a stipend to study a research masters qualification via a full-time or part-time route for registered healthcare, social work and public health professionals.
For more information, please see the NIHR South West Peninsula programme.
Research Masters studentships
Our studentships enable individuals to gain academic training and develop the necessary skills and experience to lay foundations for a research career. You can study full time, part time, online or in person with a choice of three different courses at the University of Plymouth or University of Exeter.
Engagement activities
The NIHR INSIGHT programme includes funding for a range of initiatives to provide information and support for early career professionals. This includes webinar and workshop series, taster days and an annual conference, with funding available to support travel, accommodation and childcare costs.
Personal access funding
Funding is available to students funded by the NIHR INSIGHT SW Peninsula project and other eligible early career professionals to support and enable access to their studies and career development. You can apply for funds to cover travel costs, childcare or other caring costs, conference and other event attendance-related costs or for the loan of laptops or other IT support for the duration of relevant study.
