The Hepatology Research Group works closely with the South West Liver Unit to deliver a range of observational studies and interventional trials in many liver conditions.
Therapeutic intervention trials
We recruit patients to national trials of new therapies for:
- Metabolic-dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (previously known as NAFLD)
- Alcohol-related liver disease including alcohol-related hepatitis
- Primary biliary cholangitis
- Primary sclerosing cholangitis
- Complications of cirrhosis (ascites and varices)
- Hepatocellular carcinoma
- Viral Hepatitis
Observational studies
We conduct a range of national registry studies in:
- Metabolic-dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (previously known as NAFLD)
- Autoimmune hepatitis
- Primary biliary cholangitis
- IgG4 related disease
- Drug induced liver injury
